Week 26: Surreal and intimate. These are words that best describe the one night concert of the award-winning singer and songwriter, Dan Hill, the hit maker of songs such as Sometimes when we touch and Can't we try. It is not everyday that Tagumenos get to witness a high caliber and top notch act, this time, a foreign act in our local shore. Dan Hill's songs shared a part of our growing lives and anthems when we became hopeless romantics. I grew up hearing Dan Hill and I never imagined seeing him up stage serenading these timeless classics up close. Everyone in the hall sang along with the Canadian hit maker, bringing in vivid memories and personal interpretations of each rendition to each of our lives. Before singing a song, he mesmerized the audience first with stories of how the songs were brought to life, making it more personal, more magical - sharing stories like his relationship with his father, his first heart break and even in his battle with cancer. Though the airwaves immortalized him for decades now but this intimate concert made me realize that he is after all human like us. The proceeds of the concert will go to the Care for school Chairs of the City Mayor in buying paints for the fabricated school fixtures made out of the confiscated illegal logs.
